Independent Scotland?

As many of you know, Scotland will be voting on whether to become a totally independent country, or not, on September 18. This vote could complete the break away from England and split the United Kingdom. Why would Scotland want to leave the union? Nationalism and, especially, economics play a large role. If you were Scottish, would you want independence? If you were English, would you want Scotland to leave the union? What do you think is best from an American perspective?
